About

Spaces that scream good design have delicate details hidden in every nook and corner.

The Cambridge dictionary defines interior design as “The art of planning the decoration of the insides of the building such as a house or office” To me it’s a lot more than just planning the space, it’s about designing it for the person who is going to use the space and the best utility and comfort one can achieve within the space. It’s more than just making a house, it’s about making a home.

My personal style is very minimalist and I love to have a designated place for everything. I particularly like being able to conceal messy areas behind sleek shutters, and I really like to make use of every little space possible for all the utilities and services required. However when I get a project in an Art Deco building that still has its classic elements (which is slowly becoming very rare in Bombay) my heart skips a beat! I love being able to juxtapose modern minimalist furniture and design elements against the strong geometric Art Deco forms and lines. I’m obviously biased because I come from a full Art Deco home myself, and the detailing that goes into great design has always been around me, inspiring my personal design aesthetic.

I love being able to start designing a project and seeing it through till the very end, sometimes all the way to the cutlery on the dining table – that’s what interior designing is to me. It’s about creating a home for the lifestyle that you want to live.

There are projects that come with a clean slate, where we can explore all sorts of new design ideas, materials, and finishes. The client and my imagination can run wild, creating a space that is meant solely for them to live to the fullest and enjoy and entertain. And then there are those projects where the client wants to retain some pieces of furniture that are very personal to them, and that has its own element of fun, where it allows me to recreate something new from something old that is full of character.

The best part of being an interior designer is that not only do I get to create these wonderful homes for people to live in, but I get to make great friendships along the way.
